Nado Whale guitar
Guitar body
To construct the guitar body I use different types of wood which are being stuck together in few layers and then hand-worked. The final sound of the guitar strongly depends on the selected type of wood, so combining few different sorts I get a wider range of frequencies. Usually I work with mahogany, maple, alder, cherry, walnut, spruce, olive...
When the handwork is done, the body has to be protected by the multi-layered oil and wax coat, or by lacquering.
Guitar neck
For the construction of the neck I usually use maple, padoak or mahogany, either in one piece or in lamellas. I install a truss rod onto it as well to strengthen it up. For the fingerboard I use rosewood, ebony or maple and the frets on the fingerboard are medium-size or jumbo. I also handicraft and install all by myself an inlay made of pearl, veneer or bone. The neck also needs a lacquer coat in the end.
Nylon strings : Nut at 0 fret 48 - 50mm ,radius 18 inch
Metalne strings: Nut at 0 fret 44 - 46mm , radius 16 inch
Bridge and Nut
The bridge is hand-worked mostly of ebony or rosewood, but it’s possible even to combine them with some domestic sorts like olive, holm-oak, common pear…Piezo pickup or transducer has to be installed precisely into the bridge ( EMG, Shadow, Fishman, LR Baggs), together with the preamplifier. This way the sound can be captured right on the spot where it breaks through the guitars body and where it has the broadest range of frequencies. The nut is made of bone.
Tuning Machines
Classical guitar machines are being used for nylon strings and for the metal strings single, 3L and 3D keys. In most cases I use Gotoh or Schaller.
